Publishing, especially genre publishing, is a small, incestuous community where everyone knows everyone else and a lot of us hang out together at conventions. If I tried to write a list of friends and favorite people, a lot of folks would feel snubbed or left out, and no one would ever be able to find anything. So I'm going to try to limit myself to a few favorite places, some quirky reference sites, and some things that are just too cool and useful not to list.
I'll annotate each of the links as well. If I don't have anything to say about it, I probably shouldn't be listing it....
